We have several members who shoot in competitions, although you do not have to shoot these if you wish to stay a recreational archer only. The club also has an annual award for the most improved archer based on handicaps. In addition we encourage archers by following a recognised improvement scheme. Beginners Courses with all equipment supplied and insurance through Archery GB are run over a period of 4 sessions on consecutive Sundays and are run in MAY as a group or 1 to 1 depending on numbers. Booking essential! For more information on trying archery, courses or membership fees please email [email protected] History The Wherry Archers was formed in 1992 to cater for the void caused by the demise of the Yarmouth Archery Club. Initially we were based at Caister Community Centre for indoor and outdoor activities. In 1997 we were asked to vacate Caister Community Centre as the building was to be demolished and so we moved our outdoor shooting to Filby village playing field. Our indoor venue was moved to Hopton Village hall, we remained there until early 2009 as the village hall was being rebuilt over the winter of 2009/2010, during this time we moved our shooting to Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton. In 2022 we moved our indoor shooting venue to Fleggburgh village hall. Club Contacts:- Barry email - [email protected] |
